Welcome to the Alan Shearer Foundation

My Foundation was set up to directly support the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle: a highly specialist, disability, respite, residential and social provision for people with complex disabilities and acute sensory impairments.

We need to raise at least £250,000 every year to ensure that we can continue to provide free sensory and specialist leisure activities and offer free and subsidised respite breaks for profoundly disabled children and adults.

I can't do this alone so I depend on your help, through fundraising ventures, attending our events and donations, to ensure that these facilities are maintained and developed for the future.

Thank you for your support.

Football Legends raise funds again

Thank you to everyone who supported our Entertainers football match at Kingston Park on 9 October. The crowd of 6,000 people helped us raise a fantastic £53,000 on the day - a huge step towards our £250,000 annual target.

In an interview with The Chronicle when he launched the event, Alan warned that he wasn't up to playing the full 90 minutes because, as he put it, his knees "are shot to pieces". He did, however, manage the whole of the first half and, with Rio Ferdinand, led the team out for the second half - before supporting and shouting advice from the touchline. The final score against the Manchester Legends was 2 - 2.

Our thanks also to the Falcons official photographer, Chris Lishman, who covered the event and has kindly given us permission to use some of his pictures for our Gallery

Alan Shearer statue unveiled at St James' Park

Alan's statue outside St James' ParkAlan's stature as a Tyneside legend is set in stone, but now it's also set in bronze.

Alan says he was "very proud and honoured" to be asked to unveil a nine foot sculpture of himself in his Newcastle United days, which now stands outside St James' Park. The statue captures his famous salute to the fans which is probably the most familiar image of Alan during his years at the club. Alan now stands proudly alongside the other two NUFC legends, Sir Bobby Robson and Jackie Milburn.

Congratulations Alan, from everyone involved with your Foundation.
